"A Product Category in Transition"

Lab Manager Magazine published their “2010 Product Resource Guide” which includes my article that tells what a LIMS is, how it’s different from an ELN, and how that’s in transition. It's entitled "A Product Category in Transition."

I didn’t find a way to directly link to my article, but here’s the link to the product guide: http://www.ourdigitalmags.com/publication/?i=51098 and my article is on page 78 (if you want to skip to it, just type “78” in the spot where the page numbers are displayed at the top).

You’ll see a big block of whitespace on the lower right-hand-side of the article. That’s my attribution, my bio, my entire reason for writing these articles. If you really don’t see it it’s because they forgot to include it (right here is a sigh of disappointment). In professional industry magazines, it’s not uncommon that some of the people that write articles aren’t professional writers and don’t get paid with money, myself being just one of the many who fall into this category. Our “payment” is the ability to show our expertise which, hopefully, leads to business for us. Of course, if no-one knows who wrote an article, that doesn’t work out.

So, here's what should have been in that whitespace:

“Gloria Metrick is the Owner of GeoMetrick Enterprises ( http://www.geometrick.com/ ), which provides laboratory informatics consulting services. Gloria has worked with LIMS, alone, for over twenty years in a variety of industries, products, and activities, including working with companies to select laboratory informatics software. As an expert from her continued hands-on work with these projects, she also speaks and writes on topics relevant to the LIMS/Laboratory Informatics industry. Gloria can be contacted for projects, for speaking engagements or for writing articles, and is also a contributor to TheIntegratedLab.com ( http://theintegratedlab.com/ )."
