Lately, I seem to have mainly conversations about StarLIMS – from people looking for StarLIMS resources to StarLIMS resources looking for work.
Even though my business is unrelated to the StarLIMS product, it’s always interesting to note which systems are “hot” and it tends to change. While leads for systems such as the LabWare LIMS / ELN and Thermo Scientific SampleManager LIMS / LES seem so low as to be almost non-existent, it’s interesting to see that one of the competitors seems to have a lot of activity, right now.
However, it could mean a number of things. It could mean that the LabWare and Thermo Fisher Scientific systems are doing more ongoing project work than starting new ones. Possibly StarLIMS is doing a lot of new sales or merely that they’re starting the projects they’d sold, previously – projects do have delays in their starts for a variety of reasons.
Or, it could have something to do with the fact that StarLIMS seems to have hired quite a lot of people from other companies in the industry -they seem to be doing some kind of big effort to reorganize – possibly these are new sales coming out of a big push to increase their market share.
As I said, this is more merely interesting to me to follow than of any real importance to me since I have no ties to the StarLIMS software. I’m merely commenting upon it. Also, please don’t contact me to ask about it since I’m only commenting on what I’m seeing from the fringes of it all.
